POSITION: JUNIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
An opportunity exists in the Corporate Finance Team to assist in the daily, monthly and annual accounting and administration function of this growing company with an emerging national footprint.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Capturing of receipts and payments into the accounting system
Daily reporting on outstanding payments & planning for upcoming payments (interbank transfers)
Maintenance of the fixed asset registers
Bank / petty cash / credit card reconciliations
Statutory calculations and payments including VAT, PAYE, SDL and UIF
General creditor maintenance including reconciliations and queries from creditors
General debtor maintenance including invoicing, collection and monthly reporting on outstanding debtors
Monthly / daily various reports
Intercompany reconciliations & invoicing
General Ledger accounts review and reconciliation
Commission calculations, accounting and reporting
Accounting & reconciling investments (fixed deposits, call accounts) held
Processing of ad hoc journals
Payment & record keeping in terms of the Skills Development policy
Preparation of month end checklists for approval
Year end audit file preparation
Ad hoc reporting and duties as required by Senior Financial Accountant or Financial Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
Matric with strong mathematical and accounting abilities
B Degree / diploma or equivalent

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity of financial reporting principles in order to adequately perform accounting procedures.

TECHNOLOGY
Extensive practical experience on Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel (advanced), Powerpoint) and a suitable accounting package (experience on Accpac is extremely advantageous)

WORKING EXPERIENCE
3 years relevant working experience.
